SpaceSelfie

Role: Design Lead and Art Direction

Brief: Give SpaceSelfie a strong and instantly recognisable art direction that can be used across many different outputs.

Output: Social posts, Seeding invites, Event visuals.

 

Creative team Ben&Guy had the stratospheric idea to help Samsung celebrate their 50th Birthday in style. As a brand famous for selfies, their idea was to give everyone the opportunity to Get Their Face in Space.

Knowing that the image of the selfies in space needed to be hero of the campaign, we developed an art direction that complimented the beautiful visuals and allowed for our messaging to be clean and clear.

We took a simplistic, modern approach that echoed space tech, used the primary colours of the Samsung brand and complimented the visuals that would come back from space. Text and animation played an important roll within our art direction knowing that it would be seen predominantly on digital screens. Our animations emphasised the calm movements that is seen in space as well as the rapid pace it takes to get up there in the first place.

The art direction was used widely across the campaign, from the UK launch event, to the seeding packs that were given to key influencers such as Cara Delevingne and Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well as our ongoing digital communications on Samsung social channels.
